The Park was visited by the North West in Bloom judges on 22nd July – we were entered in the “It’s Your Neighbourhood” category for the second year running.
The group were visited by two environmental and horticultural ‘in Bloom’ expert judges to see the work thatthe Friends group have been doing in the Rose Gardens. The group were measured against three criteria; community participation, environmental contribution and gardening achievement.

The group produced a newsletter  for the judges which highlights the work of the Friends group over the last 12 months.

The group hold monthly gardening sessions on the first Saturday of the month. Our work over the last 12 months has included weeding, litterpicking, painted the benches in the rose gardens, planted flowers, raked grass, dug over areas and pruned the roses beds.

We will have to wait until 23rd October to get the results – so fingers crossed all our hard work pays off and we can at least achieve a “Thriving” award again. It is thanks to these people who give up their time that we achieved this award.
