Happy New Year
We can’t believe it is January already and we are writing our “happy new year” greeting AGAIN!
In 2019 the Great British weather was not very ‘great’ for us as we had to cancel ALL of our annual events due to the weather (so all please keep your fingers crossed for better luck this year). It is always really disappointing when we have to cancel our events as so much work goes in the prep/build up to the event. Not only from our committee in the planning and organising but also from all our wonderful volunteers—who bake delicious goodies for the events. It is especially upsetting for us on behalf of our crafty volunteers; Linda, Mary & Anthea who spend a significant amount of time making beautiful items to sell at the events, so an extra special thank you Despite the events being cancelled we still managed to raise an incredible £874 from craft sales. Another extra special thanks needs to be to Caz from Caz’s Kitchen who allows us to sell our crafts throughout the year in her lovely cake shop!
As we start 2020, we wanted to thank and recognise the MANY people who go above and beyond to help support our group and improve the park throughout the year in what we are calling our very own ‘Park New Year’s Honours List’:
· Services to Gardening = Roger Tolley
· Services to Fundraising (crafting) = Linda Hill, Mary Stanley & Anthea Stewart
· Services to Technology (website) = Heather Currie
· Services to Running (Run Leaders) = Chris Beasley, Claire Byrne, Fiz Crawford, Jim Hicks, Jason Larkin, Lynn Nolan and Chris Phoenix
· Services to Volunteer Admin—Don Stewart
Obviously all of the work/events and activities wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful FOMP committee as well.
As you may be aware; next weekend (25-27th January) is the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 2020
