I have lived in Crosby all my life (except for a couple of years when I gave London a try, which wasn’t for me – I missed the coast and all the green spaces!)
I used the park regularly when I was growing up; walking to school and playing with friends. I have fond memories of hiring a putter and golf ball to play on the putting green and also playing tennis on the tennis courts! It would be fantastic if some of those areas could be brought back to life.
I live right opposite the park now, couldn’t get much closer! My family and I use the park regularly, walking to and from school, (the next generation doing what I did!) and for riding bikes, scooters, playing tennis (without the nets), playing football, the list goes on. In the summer we meet up with friends and have a picnics!
I became involved with the Friends of Moorside Park group a few years ago, after I had seen a leaflet asking for help to plant bulbs and ever since have been hooked! The park was in need of new life and I wanted to play a part in the improvements and give something back to the community. I help with gardening, litter picking and organising events and have recently become a committee member. I also make use of the fantastic award winning community fitness sessions. They truly are great fun and I have made friends with lots of amazing people.
It’s an exciting time for Moorside Park and hopefully with more improvements planned, I am looking forward to helping and being part of making the park safe and enjoyable for all the local community.
My new year’s resolutions are to help more with the Friends group, improve my fitness and bake more cakes!
